WELCOME TO THE FLORIDA ASSOCIATION OF SCIENCE SECTION!

The Science Museum Section of the Florida Association of Museums has a primary commitment to focus on issues that affect science centers, zoos, aquaria, and multi-discipline institution that have science exhibitions and programs. Living collection issues and other concerns that are unique to this group of museums are all open for discussion. This is a collaborative effort intended to promote sharing of expertise for the common good of our field.

Goals for the Science Section include the following:

  • Update the Science Section e-mail list
  • Increase communication between science museums including the addition of a message board on the Science Section webpage
  • Allow for posting of science center press releases and other general information via the message board
  • Identify funding opportunities that could be shared by all interested science centers
  • Increase annual award nominations from science centers
  • Increase science center participation at the FAM Annual Conference and educational sessions offered at the conference
  • Consider how new FCAT science goals could assist the state’s science centers with funding requests

Some of these goals have already been met, others are in progress. Please help with the effort to update our e-mail database with key science center personnel information

Discussion Group
The discussion group is available for section members to post information, ask questions, search for professionals near you, search for traveling exhibits, discuss collaborative grants, legislative news and more. Just post a message for the group and wait for answers. Please note, this feature needs you to use it in order for it to work, so let us know what you need or think.
