NATURE OF WORK
The Associate Registrar will assist the Collections Officer and the Museum Registrar with all aspects of collection management including cataloging, research, and preservation-related duties. This position also works on preventive conservation of the collection such as storing and numbering artifact and archival objects. This position reports to the Museum Registrar and is a non-exempt position.

Assist the Collections Officer and the Registrar with conducting collection/object history research and reports.
Houses objects in appropriate acid-free storage packaging or boxes and label in accordance with the STOF AH-TAH-THI-KI Museum policies and procedures.
Assist by providing appropriate handling of objects in consultation with the Registrar, and ensuring their safe keeping.
Undertake administrative duties related to curatorial projects as assigned.
Assist with documentation, storage, conservation and preparation of object records; enter and update object/artifact catalog record information into Past Perfect database.
Attend and contribute to staff meetings, workshops and related training.
Assist with the preparation and maintenance of exhibitions and displays and the delivery of activities and events sponsored by the Museum.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Familiarity with the guidelines and best-practices of museum collections management.
• Excellent organizational and writing skills.
• Proficiency in current technologies, including desktop publishing, spreadsheets, and database management.
• Strong communication skills and ability to maintain effective working relationships.
• Analytical skills are needed when interpreting information.
• Capable of handling multiple projects and of seeing projects to a point of completion.
• Ability to work a flexible work schedule including evenings, weekends and holiday.
• Ability to travel when necessary.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in History, Museum Studies, Anthropology or a related field. Candidates who are in the process of obtaining a degree (undergraduate or graduate level) in any of these fields will be also be considered. Experience working in a curatorial setting is preferred. Strong organizational, communication and research skills are necessary, with the ability to prioritize workload and handle many tasks simultaneously. Proficient computer skills utilizing Microsoft software programs and add-ins are required. Must be able to work a flexible work schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays. Must be able to travel when necessary.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25-40 pounds.
Ability to use tools and equipment, climb ladders/scaffolding, access platform and lift, carry exhibits, most of which are fragile. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Works in a clean, air-conditioned office area, with little noise.
